Throughout December we’ll be showcasing work from across the community in a retrospective project dubbed “My Top 3 2018”. Matthew Kirk (@rollthehardsixx) is up next in our series sharing his personal favourites from 2018 along with a few reasons behind why he chose them. Her’s Matt to talk about his selections :
This Christopher Reeve Superman is by far my favorite figure in the collection. I’m an 80’s kid so I grew up with this man as my Superman. To me, he embodies what Superman should look like and act like. Hot Toys did a stunning job on him and it can still stack up to the newer Hot Toys figures even after all these years.
This Harley is one of my favorite female sculpts. The figure is so vibrant and full of life. A lot of times figures can have a plain or blank expression on their faces, so it’s a breath of fresh air to have a figure with such a fun expression. She’s also a blast to shoot and photographs very well.
This was one of my favorite shots that I did for the year. I had a blast setting it up and shooting it. I wanted to show a different side of Spiderman, more of how he felt after a long night of crime fighting, or maybe something happened in his personal life. Hopefully, I conveyed that in this, but either way I really enjoyed doing it.
A huge thank you to Matt for sharing his 2018 favourite pieces and if you want to get involved and share your Top 3 then all you need to do is email jack@Exclucollective.com with your 3 creations (toy shots, customs or dios) along with your name and a few paragraphs explaining your choices.

Trevor is a New York-based Creative Director and owner of The Brand Counselors. He has a growing collection of 150ish 1:6th scale stock and custom figures (and more and more Lego sets). Toy photography melds his childhood dreams of comic book illustration and film directing with his design talents and – in his mind – justifies the ridiculous money he spends on these things. When he’s not shooting, he enjoys kayaking, catching up on good TV and building seemingly endless custom figures.
