In a move sure not to create controversy, Hot Toys announced a Deluxe version of their Return of the Jedi Luke Skywalker figure. The now “standard” version (which was not labeled as such at the time) was highly anticipated and was available for preorder over a year ago. It’s now in the hands of many confused and highly irritated collectors.
But fear not (well not yet anyway)! Buried in the instructions for the first version is a mention of an “accessory pack” which may mean your might be able to get your hands on the extras included here is you were crazy enough to trust Hot Toys and buy the first version. Aside from the forthcoming Hulkbuster accessory pack, I’ve never seen this done, but maybe this is a new trend for Hot Toys.
If that’s the case, you might be able to get your hands on his Endor poncho and helmet, “sandstorm” tunic and goggles (as seen only in deleted scenes from ROTJ), and am additional, teeth-clenched sculpt and interchangeable windswept hair. Also included here (but likely not with an “accessory pack” if there is such a beast) is the Endor stand.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out, but it seems like a bad move on HT’s part not to have put both versions up at the same time.
