Having finally finished the Fellowship with their excellent Gimli figure, Asmus Toys is moving forward with supporting characters from the classic trilogy as well as some upcoming figures from The Hobbit trilogy.
Arwen, the daughter of Elrond and beloved of Aragorn is the next in line. As usual, the clothing looks impeccable. They’ve been getting some mixed reviews on the sculpt, but Asmus is rare among large 1/6th manufacturers in that they listen and often rework likenesses before a final release. Personally, I don’t think this is too far off but needs a little work. It looks like they’ve done a decent job of blending the rooted and sculpted hair, but the differences in sheen are often what stands out – hopefully, they can address that.
Arwen retails for $190 and should be available for pre-order as you read this.
Trevor is a New York-based Creative Director and owner of The Brand Counselors. He has a growing collection of 150ish 1:6th scale stock and custom figures (and more and more Lego sets). Toy photography melds his childhood dreams of comic book illustration and film directing with his design talents and – in his mind – justifies the ridiculous money he spends on these things. When he’s not shooting, he enjoys kayaking, catching up on good TV and building seemingly endless custom figures.
