Just in time for the movie release, Hot Toys has revealed their corresponding 1/6th Deadpool 2 figure. HT says this release features a new material for the main part of the suit, hopefully, that means a more flexible cloth rather than pleather, which hinders movement and is never long for this world.
In addition, Deadpool 2 comes with a masked head sculpt with 5 pairs of interchangeable eyepieces, signature weapons including a pair of metal swords, a dagger, and pistols, DP’s favorite mystical animal toy unicorn, a pair of interchangeable high heels (?), an X-Men Trainee jersey, a wearable neck device, variety of interchangeable hands available for different gestures, and a dynamic figure stand. Not described but pictured is also what looks like a (likely cardboard) shelf to display some of DP’s goodies.
What isn’t included (again) is an unmasked Wade headsculpt. I can’t imagine there isn’t an unmasked scene in DP2, but we’ll have to wait and see. Maybe someday we’ll start seeing HT and other 16/th manufacturers sell expansion packs with additional head sculpts/expressions, weapons, etc. Asmus Toys has had success with this, but I’m not holding my breath for others to follow soon.
As of this writing, the new Deadpool wasn’t up for pre-order, but should be soon.
Trevor is a New York-based Creative Director and owner of The Brand Counselors. He has a growing collection of 150ish 1:6th scale stock and custom figures (and more and more Lego sets). Toy photography melds his childhood dreams of comic book illustration and film directing with his design talents and – in his mind – justifies the ridiculous money he spends on these things. When he’s not shooting, he enjoys kayaking, catching up on good TV and building seemingly endless custom figures.
