When I first saw the Netflix Daredevil season 1 series, I knew I have to have the Black Mask Ninja Suit and Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock. When I first saw the red suit in the second season, I wished so badly that Hot Toys would make it. The Netflix series is definitely on point on the dark and gritty context of the character. It is also not over-powered and stays true to the character.

Eventually Hot Toys did make the red suit and The Punisher and they are both amazing, amazing figures. I love them so much that along with the Robbie Reyes’ version of Ghost Rider, they literally replaced my Iron Man and War Machines’ prime shelf space.

Aside from the great character design and origin stories, the main reason why I think Street Heroes are so close to our hearts is because they seem so grounded and near to us. They face similar everyday problems and issues that we face but they take a step out to rectify it, sometimes a little too far though. They’re not exactly the most extraordinary heroes with special powers coming out from their body. Instead they depend a lot on their wit and will, and that is exactly why most common folks can relate to them.

Over the years, Hot Toys released some Street Level heroes like Batman, Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Daredevil and the Punisher. Personally, I really like the Netflix Daredevil and Spider-Man (Homecoming version).  The Netflix Daredevil’s suit is a good re-imagination (some might disagree) and I really dig Ryan Meinerding’s (Design Head at Marvel) design overall. Maybe not the collar but the red and black do blend well and the helmet is absolutely gorgeous. Hot Toys nailed Charlie Cox’s expression, especially the bleeding face expression. The only complain is the short neck that it comes with. Nevertheless some modification can be done and the neck piece was eventually extended. The Punisher is another amazing piece. Absolute likeness of Jon Bernthal!

I would like to see the Vulture from Spider-Man Homecoming. Although it’s not a hero, the character is so badass and looks so good alongside both Tech Suit and Home-Made Suit Spidey! Also if only Hot Toys would make Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones to complete The Defenders would be great!

However, the figure that I personally want the most would be the Iron Spider from Infinity War. It’s a no brainer that Hot Toys will definitely make this character, I just hope that the end product will be Spectacular (pun intended), unlike the Tech Suit from Homecoming with its shortcomings. It isn’t just the accuracy likeness but the articulation and armour material needs to be durable and lasting enough to dynamically pose the character for long hours without worrying collectors.

The Hot Toys game is going strong and when it comes to Street Heroes, hopefully we get to see an updated suit of Iron Fist in the next season, along with a different costume for Daredevil. Maybe a black one with red highlights. Keep collecting!
