Hasbro unveiled four new figures in their Star Wars Black Series 6 inch line at New York Comic Con. One of them is based on the character, DJ played by Benecio del Toro from the upcoming Star Wars – The Last Jedi movie. The likeness to the actor is phenomanal, Hasbro has truly brought the standard of their Black Series line to be on par with their Marvel Legends line and maybe even give other Star Wars six inch lines such as SH Figurarts and Mafex a run for their money.
Hasbro utilised their new design technique for portraits on these upcoming figures whereby they go through the process of injet printing where the color is sprayed onto their faces. “Much like you would print a picture from a copier. They’re able to capture a lot more subtlety, a lot more color, and it’s not just one color at a time.” explains Hasbro senior designer Steve Bono.
They are also bringing fan favorite characters from the original trilogy namely, Lando Calrissian (Jabba’s palace disguise), and bounty hunters 4-LOM and Dengar. This is very good news to Star Wars fans as they have been requesting for a six inch Black Series Dengar for many years since Hasbro launched this line. They also continue the usage of soft goods on their figures as evident from The Force Awakens Resistance outfit Rey image. Based on the pictures seen below, Hasbro has truly stepped up their game with the annoucement of these figures and I can’t wait to get my hands on them!
