An exclusive shoot for VS Week

My name is Muhammad Taufan. I live in Indonesia and Ive called this theme “Clash Between The Dark Knights”. I got this unique idea on 15th April – I used to take photos with single characters, but on that day suddenly O thought “what if I take photo’s of both figures at the same time”. And so I used the Black Series Kylo Ren and Darth Revan figures and the Probe Droid from Hasbro. Kylo Ren isn’t a Sith Lord, but rather a Master of the Knights Of Ren whilst Darth Revan was once a Sith lord but I always see him as a warrior or knight of the dark because he became cooler when he was a dark lord. That is the reason why I called this theme “Clash Between The Dark Knights”. My process here is pretty simple, I just arranged some of rocks, positioned my camera so I had a great angle and positioned my Black Series Kylo Ren and Darth Revan properly so both figures can be seen in a realistic light.

When I thought about this theme, I always thought “how did these 2 figures meet, they lived in different time periods” until I got something abstract. So heres my short story.

Kylo Ren wants to become stronger due to his loss at the hands of  Rey on Starkiller Base, so Ren starts to learn from a Sith Holocron. But one Sith Holocron transported Ren to a different time and space. After he arrived, Ren felt that there was a great disturbance in the Force.

And what Ren felt was right, not too far from his location there’s a  mysterious dark figure meditating.

Knowing that there is something wrong, Ren sends a Probe Droid to find out about the suspicious creature.

As it’s master ordered, the Probe Droid finds the suspicious dark figure and quickly informs Kylo Ren. Ren’s coming over to his droid’s location, looking at the mysterious dark figure, saying “So the disturbance came from here.” Then Ren turns his lightsaber on.

Without thinking too much, Ren decides to kill this dark figure, but when Ren tries to attack the dark figure from behind, the dark figure pulls out his lightsabers and blocks Ren’s attack. Looking at the dark figure’s saber, Ren starts to realise that those twin saber’s belong to only one man, Darth Revan. Yes, this mysterious dark figure is Darth Revan and he says his welcome to Ren by saying “You’re in the wrong place, young Ben Solo”

Knowing that his opponent is Darth Revan whose was once a Dark Lord of the Sith, Ren choose to fights on, because he knows he can’t run.

I was very excited when taking these photos, I felt like I imagined them fight, saw them as living creature’s that were ready posed as photography model’s – I enjoyed it so much.

Revan knows what Ren intention is, so Revan told Ren “If you want power, if you want to defeat me, use your anger, fear, and your suffering, only with those, will you achieve the true power of the dark side.” Then Ren turns his anger, fear and suffering into power, new power to defeat Revan.

As Ren breaks Revan’s defences and Ren uses his Force Stun on Revan, Revan admits his defeat, and tells Ren that he already know’s how to become stronger. As Revan was defeated, he vanished. Ren feels what Revan said is right, he feels stronger than before now, and is ready to challenge Rey, even Luke in Episode 8: The Last Jedi.

That’s my story telling for my theme, “Clash Between The Dark Knights”. I’m happy, excited, proud, and really enjoyed the process for taking, arranging, and editing photos of these two figures. Thank you to The Exclu Collective for providing this theme. I enjoyed it so much.

If you want to know further about my photos, you can follow me @mtaufanyp on instagram. Thank you very much for reading my story, cheers!

A huge thank you to Muhammad for taking the time to create a full backstory for his shoot and for spending the time editing and rounding off his images so as he puts it above be sure to head over to his page for much more!
