A NEW DAWN

Themed series are always a great way to challenge the community into thinking outside the box to create a series of shots that allow them to move outside of their usual boundaries. Its the turn of Payton Inman to take up the challenge and he has worked to create a new series entitled “A New Dawn” featuring a plethora of Star Wars characters.

A New Dawn – An Exclusive Series

When I was first assigned to the theme “A New Dawn” it took me awhile before things started to pop into my head. A New Dawn ultimately means the first light of day, or the first time period, like the dawn of a new era. To me Star Wars touches a little bit of both of these, you just have to think outside of the box a little. For these five images I used all Star Wars Black Series figures from Hasbro.

The Dark Side and the Light

Luke (The Dark Side and the Light)
When thinking of something that touches a new era or something in the fields around that, the first thing that popped into my mind was “Return of the Jedi”, specifically the  ending scene where Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker battle it out. While Luke is hiding from his father (Darth Vader) under the stairs, we get a shot of Luke’s face where half of it is bright white and the other half a dark blue. Both representing the Dark side and the Light. Luke is struggling to decide weather to turn to the Dark side or not, until Vader mentions turning his sister (Princess Leia) to the Dark side. Then the fight continues, and we all we all know what happens from there.

Krennic and Troopers

Krennic and Troopers
For this image, I basically wanted to show some of the new characters from Rogue One. Director Krennic, the Scarif Stormtrooper and the Deathtrooper were all new faces to us when this movie hit theaters. I thought these three figures represented my theme well. It was the beginning of the end for these characters.A New Hope

A New Hope
This image is really iconic in “A New Hope” and in the Star Wars trilogy. We didn’t know anything about this Luke Skywalker except that he was a Moisture Farmer with his uncle. After being told he can’t go to the academy until next year, Luke walks away from dinner and goes outside to look over the sunset on his home planet Tatooine. That moment sparks the beginning of Luke Skywalker and the Star Wars saga.
War

Scout Trooper
This image doesn’t have a lot behind it beside the fact that it takes place during the last film of the original trilogy “Return of the Jedi”. During this last film we meet a lot of new characters and some characters find out things they never knew. I like to think Scout Trooper represents all of the battles that have taken place over the trilogy films. He looks at us wondering what will come next.

Hunting for Luke

Boba Fett
I had a little fun with this one and switched the roles of Boba Fett. We all know Boba Fett is a bounty hunter out to get Han Solo so he can collect his bounty. With this picture I decided that he would be after Luke Skywalker instead. After finding Luke’s X-wing helmet, that helps Fett figure out where Luke was off to next. Thank you to the Exclu Collective for giving me this chance to tell a little bit of a story behind some of the pictures I take and challenging me with this theme.

A huge hand goes to Payton for putting in the time and effort to create an exclusive series that challenged his skills and saw him work outside his usual way of thinking.
