2016 has seen some incredible content created by our community of photographers and it has been a huge year for Exclu, as we began our showcasing platform back in September.
We’d like to take the opportunity to take a look back at some of the best moments and community creations from the past year.
On September 30th we set out our stall and released our debut issue featuring the work of 12 artists and designers who work as part of members of the Toy Photography community. We had a great time putting the issue together and an even better time hearing your feedback, and showcasing the individuals who we believe needed to be shouted about. Our cover star for our debut issue was Isaac Renteria who works at the abstract end of the photography scale by combining instinctive use of colours and sculptures to push the boundaries of what we should expect from a Toy Photographer.
We we fortunate enough to work alongside toy manufacturer Beast Kingdom and offer the community a chance to win EggAttack Star Wars figures as part of a collaborative competition. Up for grabs were a ShadowTrooper and Darth Vader EggAttack, and all you had to do to enter was to show us your Top Toy Photo of 2016 – and you did just that. It was out first major competition and we learned a lot that we can apply to future promotions as we continue to work alongside Beast to offer new and exciting opportunities to the community.
In November we partnered up with BigBadToyStore to offer a new competition that saw a member of our community take up a Rey & BB8 HotToys figure, in return for letting us know what your favourite feature from our second issue was and why. Feedback is always an essential part of growth and so we were able to both get an understanding of how to improve as well as thanking the community for their support over our short life-time so far.
We launched our second issue on December 5th, which again featured the work of numerous artists and designers who all provided exclusive content that was only viewable through our magazine. We were able to implement a lot of improvements over Issue 1 an we really raised the bar with new content such as behind the scenes featurettes and catching up with photographers from Issue 1. The feedback we got really blew us away. Issue 3 has a lot to live up to.
Looking forward we have a lot more content on the way and a new Issue arriving in February. This featuring the work of more artists and designers alongside new competitions and opportunities, as well as fresh features from faces both familiar and new. We also have some huge surprise announcements to make as we welcome the New Year and we cant wait to share these with you. Thank you to the community for all the support in 2016 and we look forward to showcasing even more content in 2017.
